There is no must in art, because art is free.
Abstraction is a form of communication that doesn't use realistic, recognizable forms that exist in the visible world. Instead, it relies on the principles of visual or artistic harmony themselves - focus, composition, value, colour and texture – to tell a story.
The artist must have something to say, for mastery over form is not her goal but rather the adapting of form to its inner meaning and the inner desire for expression.
